Overview

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Supply Chain Lead will be responsible for the leadership and management of the procurement function across Transmission & Distribution leading a team of supply-chain specialists in managing the procurement for a portfolio of projects. The role includes all aspects of supplier management including identification and pre-qualification of new suppliers to enhance delivery capability, negotiation, reporting and bid support. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direction of the procurement function and delivery of both short and long-term business objectives
  • Broaden clients supply chain to improve delivery capability and capacity
  • Lead the evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers and revaluation of existing suppliers as required. Maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL).
  • Support tendering department with provision of applicable quotes and input from suppliers
  • Engage relevant internal stakeholders in the procurement process (Quality, HSSE, Technical)
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers optimising security and cash positions
  • Ensure the adherence client governance controls and delegation of authorities
  • Ensure Purchase Orders are expedited to obtain required documentation and maintain delivery dates, notifying updates to the project teams
  • Arrange where required third party inspection agencies to attend supplier’s premises to carry out inspections
  • Ensure third party shipping agencies are utilised where necessary to arrange appropriate customs clearance   
  • Monitor and in collaboration with site teams, ensure that the performance of each supplier is recorded together with explanations for any deviations from the performance anticipated from the contractor’s tender
  • Identifying resource requirements within the procurement team, ensuring operational and development needs are met
  • Promote safe working practices and always demonstrate safety leadership

Qualifications

Educated to ISCED Level 6 (bachelor’s degree or Equivalent) in business studies, law, engineering, quantity surveying, supply chain or similar discipline / CIPS qualified or industry equivalent

Extensive procurement experience demonstrating results and experience leading a team of supply-chain specialists.

Previous experience in:

Operating under framework agreements and category agreements

ERP systems

Client contract requirements

Supply Chain Principles and techniques

Negotiating complex agreements

Implementation of project supply chain processes and procedures

Supplier Relationship Management

Experience in audit and assurance

Mobilisation of supply chain post contract award
